About Daisy

Daisy Mae is a 15-year old miniature Dachshund who lives in the country with her family. She has a lot of inspirational "tails" to share with her readers.

When she was 11-years-old, she suffered from a condition causing her to lose all mobility for several weeks.  No one was sure of her future but her strong will to overcome the obstacles in her way lead her to moving again.  It is now three years later and she is as healthy as ever, still in the country with her family and enjoying her new "leash" on life. 

Shannon is from Nashville, Indiana. She has had an interest in reading and writing since she was able to do so. She read books faster than her parents could buy (eBooks were nonexistent). Growing up on Sesame Street, The Berenstain Bears, Clifford the Big Red Dog and other similar books and shows, “Daisy the Dachshund’s Children’s Series” became an idea formed quickly by Shannon when Daisy was adopted at 8-weeks-old. As time goes by and the real world sets in, “Daisy the Dachshund’s Children’s Series” became an idea that was put on the shelf for over a decade until Daisy suffered a life-changing experience, causing Shannon to finally achieve a life-long goal of writing and publishing children’s books about Daisy the Dachshund. Never being a great Art student, she did not imagine illustrating her own books. Once the project got underway, she was reluctant to hire an illustrator due to costs. Shannon learned how to do her own illustrations and then the book was sent to print.
